Health & Disability Assessor - Birmingham
Mon-Fri 09:00-17:00

Registered Health Care Professionals are required to conduct health and disability assessments. Both paper based assessments and face to face consultations will be required to support Work Capability Assessments (WCA). The Work Capability Assessment (WCA) is used to determine eligibility for Employment and Support Allowance (ESA). It is based on the principle that a health condition or impairment should not automatically be regarded as a barrier to work.
The WCA is a functional assessment which looks at an individual’s capability for work, taking into account developments in healthcare and the modern workplace. The WCA assesses claimants against a list of activities covering physical as well as mental, intellectual and cognitive functions.
Face to face consultations involve assessing people with physical and / or mental health conditions; history taking, observation and ability to perform a relevant examination, consideration of evidence and completing a report. Paper based assessments involve communication with GPs / hospital specialists or other professional colleagues, considering evidence and completing reports.
